Have you ever wondered, how all those usenet providers can afford at least one server farm that can handle 6+ Terabytes a day and thousands of connections?
Here is the answer: They don't!
Most of the providers, you come across, do not run their own servers. They just re-sell access to one of the few enterprise backend providers.
I found an interesting picture on a usenet board, that shows where the providers buy their access. Take a look for yourself, and see who handles your Usenet!
As you can see, there are not that many backend providers. Most resellers are using the Highwinds Media Servers. Most Holland based providers XSNews
